The editor of Pacific Dynamics invites researchers to submit papers for the regular issue of the journal due for publication in the second half of the year (2026).
Pacific Dynamics is an interdisciplinary journal and we welcome full-length manuscripts — 6,000 to 8,000 words, including references — from across the disciplines: gender studies, indigenous studies, conflict-peace-security studies, minority studies, politics, international relations, sociology, anthropology, cultural studies, geography, education, philosophy, literature, art, development studies, economics, marine studies, and environmental studies, among others.
As such, the journal seeks articles that transcend formal academic disciplines and that contribute critical, open and interdisciplinary approaches to Pacific research. The purpose is to encourage and promote rigorous debate on theoretical discourses, applied knowledge, and policy issues through multiple prisms.
The journal also accepts single-country studies or comparative research on the Pacific Islands, including Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Rim.
The editor also accepts book reviews of 800–1,500 words, as well as critical analytical essays (2,000–3,000 words).
All submissions will go through a peer review process before publication.
- Submissions must strictly adhere to the journal’s formatting and citation guidelines.
- Manuscripts should be submitted by 1 June 2026 to chris.houghton@canterbury.ac.nz
